January Newsletter: Inner Journey for Outer Success

Hello Reader,

I hope your year has started great!

As I suggested in the December newsletter, the turning of a new year is a great time for stopping and reflecting on what has passed.

Maybe you did some reflection and found it helpful?

I certainly did!

Last year for me is what I would describe as a journey to my inner self

I clarified my values, my purpose, and my goals - all the while achieving all that I set out to do in the process.

As I reflected on this, I realized that the reason why I succeeded in the tasks that I set out to do (writing and publishing a book was among the things I previously thought to be impossible with my schedule), was that I had done 'the inner work'.

In essence, it's about "knowing yourself". Getting to know your deepest values, beliefs, unconscious thoughts, and "shadows" (the parts of our ego that remain hidden from consciousness but influence our behavior).

Because who we are - who we truly and deeply are under all the layers - is how we "show up" to the world.

Our thoughts, words, and actions define us, shaping how others perceive and respond to us.

Essentially, who you are is what you give - and what you give is what you get.

That's why inner work and knowing yourself is crucial for achieving your goals in life.

And that's one of the main topics that I will dive into this year: How to do the inner work.

In addition,

I learned dozens of lessons last year and I will do my best to bring all the insights to you this year in the form of blog posts and newsletters.

But let's start with a quick sneak peek of what I have learned and what is to come.

2024 Topics and Insights

1. You cannot change others, you can only change yourself: Recognizing our limited power over others is the cornerstone of personal growth. While we lack control over external factors, we wield immense influence over ourselves—our thoughts, beliefs, actions, and behavior. A fundamental step in this journey is looking in the mirror, where the essence of responsibility lies.

2. Taking Responsibility: Are we actively steering our own lives, or do we habitually assign blame elsewhere? Taking responsibility involves a conscious examination of our thoughts, words, and actions. The mirror reflects not only our image but also the accountability we hold for our choices.

3. The Inner Journey of Change: Personal evolution is an internal expedition. Coaches, mentors, and teachers can serve as guides, but the transformative steps must be taken individually. This journey need not be solitary; collaboration is encouraged. Importantly, growth is an ongoing process, not a destination. Embrace the perpetual quest for something more significant.

4. Navigating Highs and Lows: Life's journey comprises highs and lows. Reflecting on your current position, understanding why you are there, and clarifying your desires offer valuable perspectives.

Low moments present opportunities for profound growth. Breaking free from challenges contributes to becoming a better version of yourself.

5. The Essence of Relationships: At the core of personal growth lies the web of relationships—friends, family, work connections, pets, and even our relationship with money.

However, the most crucial relationship is the one with yourself. Self-awareness forms the foundation upon which all other connections are built.

In essence, how you see yourself is how others see you too. How you talk to yourself is how you talk to others - and how they in turn respond to you. How you treat others is how others will treat you - and so on.

6. The Role of Awareness: Awareness is the catalyst for change. You cannot fix what remains hidden or unrecognized. Acknowledging the areas that need improvement is the first step towards growth.

7. Clarity of Desires and Purpose: Ask yourself, "What do I want?" Whether in relationships, careers, or personal pursuits, clarity of desires is pivotal.

Purpose, intertwined with enjoyment, forms a compass for navigating life. Identifying core values aligns this compass providing direction and meaning.

In conclusion, personal growth is an ongoing, dynamic process rooted in self-awareness, responsibility, and meaningful relationships. Embracing change, understanding the evolution of habits, and aligning actions with core values pave the way for a purposeful and fulfilling journey.
